Ask RGV ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Ask RGV Android application.
By using the app, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy.
Plain language summary: We collect only what is necessary to run the app. We do not sell your data. Your conversations are stored to provide history and improve the experience — nothing else.

- Name and email address provided during registration
- Authentication tokens managed by Clerk (our auth provider)
Voice & Conversation Data
- Audio input you speak into the app during sessions
- Transcribed text of your voice input (processed by Deepgram)
- AI-generated responses to your messages
- Conversation history stored per session
Usage Data
- Session duration and daily usage time (for quota enforcement)
- Subscription status and tier
- App version and Android OS version
- Crash reports and error logs (anonymised)
Payment Data
- Subscription purchases are handled entirely by Google Play and RevenueCat. We do not collect or store credit card or payment details.

03 — Third Parties
THIRD-PARTY SERVICES
The app relies on the following third-party services to function. Each has its own privacy policy.
- Deepgram — Speech-to-text transcription of your voice input. Audio is streamed to Deepgram servers for real-time processing. deepgram.com/privacy
- Anthropic (Claude API) — Powers the AI persona. Your transcribed message and conversation context are sent to Anthropic's API. anthropic.com/privacy
- ElevenLabs — Text-to-speech synthesis in RGV's cloned voice. Response text is sent to ElevenLabs for audio generation. elevenlabs.io/privacy
- Clerk — User authentication and session management. clerk.com/privacy

04 — Voice Data
VOICE & CONVERSATION DATA
Your voice is processed, not permanently stored as audio. Raw audio is streamed to Deepgram for real-time transcription and is not retained by us after the session ends. What we store is the text transcript of the conversation.
What is stored on our servers:
- Text transcripts of your side of conversations
- AI-generated text responses
- Timestamps and session metadata
What is NOT stored:
- Raw audio recordings of your voice
- Any biometric voice data or voice prints
Conversation history is accessible only to you within the app and is not shared with any third party for marketing or profiling purposes.
05 — Retention
DATA RETENTION
- Conversation history — Retained for as long as your account is active. Deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
- Account data — Retained until you delete your account.
- Usage logs — Retained for 90 days for debugging purposes, then deleted.
- Error/crash logs — Anonymised and retained for 30 days.
You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us (see Section 10).
06 — Security
DATA SECURITY
- All data in transit is encrypted via TLS 1.3
- All data at rest is encrypted on our servers
- Authentication is managed by Clerk with industry-standard JWT tokens
- Our backend infrastructure runs on a private VPS — no public database exposure
- No employee has routine access to individual conversation content
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we take all reasonable steps to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

YOUR RIGHTS
You have the right to:
- Access — Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Correction — Request correction of inaccurate data
- Deletion — Request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Portability — Request your conversation history in a portable format
- Objection — Object to processing of your data in certain circumstances

08 — Children
CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
Ask RGV is intended for users aged 18 and above. The philosophical content and nature of conversations in this app are not suitable for minors.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If we become aware that a minor has provided personal information, we will delete it immediately.
If you believe a minor has used the app, please contact us immediately.
09 — Changes
CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
For significant changes, we will notify you via an in-app notification or email. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
